Agape Outreach

Agape Outreach is the helping ministry of First United Methodist Church, guided by the principles of Christ's unconditional love. We Love Boldly, Serve Joyously, and help without judgment. Every person and situation is reviewed on an individual basis, allowing us to offer tailored assistance with a variety of needs. This ministry is made possible through the generosity of private donations and occasional small grants to the Agape Fund.

Financial Assistance & Crisis Support

Our church family is here for you. We offer a variety of care and support programs, both directly and through partnerships with local agencies, to meet your needs. Whether you're seeking a listening ear, practical help, or spiritual guidance, we're here to support you on your journey.

We provide individualized financial assistance for:

Housing: Rent, mortgage, and emergency housing.

Transportation: Car repairs, gasoline vouchers, bus tickets and RTA passes.

Essentials: Prescriptions, utilities, clothing, and shoes.

Documentation: Assistance obtaining IDs, Driver’s Licenses, SS Cards, and Birth Certificates.

Food, Fellowship & Seasonal Blessings

We believe that no one should go hungry—physically or spiritually.

Weekly Meals and Food Pantry

Cooperative Ministries Food Pantry: Located here at First Church.

       Hours: Monday & Wednesday (1 PM – 3 PM) | Friday (10 AM – 12 PM).

       Note: Please bring photo ID and proof of address.

Bread and Bowl: A free community meal every Friday night. Doors open at 5:30 PM with the meal starting at 6 PM. Open to all for food and fellowship.

Wednesday Night Feast Meals: A low-cost, home-cooked meal served during the school year. All are welcome. Visit our Events page for exact dates and menus. 

Seasonal & Specialized Support

Operation Back to School (Late July): Providing school supplies, hygiene items, and fresh produce to Van Wert County students. Pre-registration required.

Isaiah 58: Providing brand-new clothing and shoes for school-aged children as needs arise.

Thanksgiving Blessings: Providing complete Thanksgiving meals to local families.

Care and Connection

You do not have to walk through life's challenges alone. Our care teams are ready to offer a compassionate, listening ear.

Pastoral Care & Prayer

Pastoral Visitation: Available for those experiencing grief, illness, or spiritual questioning. Contact the church office with your needs. 

Prayer Team: Our team meets Tuesday mornings at 10 AM. Submit your requests to the office or through this online form.

Stephen Ministry
